Who says no to a pidgin plugin pack? No one I know, especially if you are using pidgin as your messaging client in ubuntu. See the picture below:
Here’s how to get it:
- go to system-administration-synaptic package manager
- hit the search button and type “guification” (without the quotes of course)
- 3 items will come up in the search result, install the 2nd and third one.

To check your gmail in pidgin, add your google talk account and check the “New Mail Notifications” box under user options:
That should keep you busy with pidgin for a little while.
