Exclusives

When it comes to games, I personally believe that exclusive titles and content will become a thing of the past. You’ve seen it with final fantasy. Recently a character who was exclusive to the BS3 (Bogus Station) is now coming to the real system. Vader, who is feared by galaxies will hit Soul Calibur IV as a DLC for five bucks. This will be available on Thursday the 23rd of October so look for that if you have the game.

So you think you’re tough?

Well DeAndre Cortez Way thinks he’s tough as well; so tough that he’s calling out all live players – specifically those who play gears of war, halo 3 and call of duty 4. He claims that he can beat anybody that he plays. Who is DeAndre? Most of us know him as Soulja boy. See for yourself. Please note that he uses explicit language.

His gamertag is souljaboytellem. Please be advise that his friends list is full. Say hello to Mr. Sergeant Grade 3.

Halo 3 Recon

Have you seen it? This is the trailer for the expansion pack that is coming to us in the fall of 2009. Enjoy!

Xbox 360 Live 12 Month + 1 Month Bonus

So here’s a sweet deal. Amazon has a 12 month subscription of xbox live plus one extra month for 38.99. Its a great deal if you are still doing month by month which actually comes out to be about 104.16. 49.99 + applicable taxes may look good but not as good as 38.99 at your door. Not sure when or if this offer will end but you can check it out here.

How To: XBMC on Ubuntu 8.04

XBMC Media Center (formerly named “XBox Media Center”) is a free and open source cross-platform media-player and entertainment hub. Initially created for the first-generation Xbox game-console, the team behind XBMC development have recently ported the XBMC Media Center software to also run natively under Linux, Mac OS X (Leopard, Tiger, and Apple TV), and Microsoft Windows operating systems. There is also a bootable Live CD version referred to a “XBMC Live”

First, open a terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal):

  • sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

and add the following repositories to it:

  • deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc-hardy/ubuntu hardy main
  • deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc-hardy/ubuntu hardy main
Save and close.

Then do:
  • sudo apt-get update
After it updates, install xbmc as follows:
  • sudo apt-get install xbmc
You can now start XBMC by going to Applications > Sound & Video > XBMC Media Center.

For more on xbmc go here.

This may or may not work for you. Use at your own risk.

Open Office 3.0 RC4

OoO 3.0 is available now. Check out what J.A. Watson had to say about it:

If you are still using Microsoft Office, you should really give OpenOffice a look. It can be installed on a system which already has MS Office without creating any problems, you simply tell it on installation not to take over as the default application for MS Office files. If you haven’t updated to MS Office 2007 yet, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find that OpenOffice 3.0 is able to open MS Office 2007 documents with no problem and without a format converter – unlike Microsoft’s own pre-2007 Office versions.

Open Office is free. Some people like it and some people don’t. You can decide for yourself and download it here.

APPNR

Have you heard of appnr? It makes installing ubuntu apps really easy. Go check it out. This makes it much simpler for newbs to install stuff especially if they do not want to deal with the synaptic package manager. There is an install button next to the programs, just click that and ubuntu will do the rest. Use at your own risk!

Gears Of War Footage Leaked

If you are a Gears fan, than you need to see this. If you are not a Gears fan, you need to see this!!!!

Gears is not Halo, so I hope you (whoever you may be) are not carrying the mindset that “I don’t like Gears because its not Halo”. Learn how to play the game. Stop trying to be a hero and use some cover and work with your teamates, then you’ll begin to appreciate this game that some circles are calling a “platform”. The footage that you are about to see is called Horde mode. Gears will be released on November 7th and is also on my wish list if you wish to buy it for me. I know! you didn’t  like my wish list plug. It’s alright.

You need to check this out.

Keep Your Ubuntu Clean

If you ubuntu, check out damien’s post on how to keep your distro clean and lean.

Enjoy, I know I will.

king’s Scepter

So in the game castle crashers I recently found out that you can get the king’s scepter. While I was playing online with a friend of mine, I saw him with it. I kindly asked him to drop it so I can pick it up and now I have this king’s scepter; and its cool. I don’t believe it has critical hitting ability but it does have +3 in three categories while the fourth category remained neutral. I’m still looking for anyone who would kindly let me have the alien ray gun and if that’s you then drop me a note. Thanks.
