Microblogging with Pidgin

As the weeks go on microblogging is becoming more popular. Since pidgin is very versatile, let’s put it to work with some microblogging in ubuntu.

Lets add the gpg first, open the terminal and type:

sudo apt-key adv –recv-keys –keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 0CF459B8DF37ED8B

Enter your password to validate that you have sudo rights.

Next add your respective repository via system-administration-software sources:

Hardy

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/sugree/ppa/ubuntu hardy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/sugree/ppa/ubuntu hardy main

Intrepid

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/sugree/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/sugree/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main

Jaunty

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/sugree/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/sugree/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

and in the terminal do:

sudo apt-get install pidgin-microblog

Now let’s enable the plugin, Open Pidgin and in Tools > Plugins and check “Twitgin”

Navigate to Accounts > Manage Accounts, click “Add” and in the “Protocol” List, select TwitterIM, Identica or Laconica:
